CtrlSec — Building the Frontend of an AI-Powered Cybersecurity Platform
As the co-founder of CtrlSec, I designed and built the entire frontend for an ambitious platform that combines training, real-time threat response, and compliance under one AI-powered system. The biggest challenge was creating clarity in one of the most complex domains in technology.

The Problem
India’s cybersecurity landscape is broken. Most existing solutions are either extremely expensive ($50K–$100K) or heavily fragmented. This has led to a critical situation where 87% of Indian SMBs have zero vulnerability testing, while the average cost of a data breach stands at ₹17.9 Cr.
At the same time, there is a massive talent gap — 3.5 million unfilled cybersecurity jobs globally — and new regulations like the DPDP Act 2023 carry penalties up to ₹250 Cr for non-compliance.
The Solution
We built CtrlSec as India’s first integrated cybersecurity ecosystem — one AI engine powering three connected platforms:
| Platform | Focus | Key Capabilities | Pricing Model |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alpha | Train & Certify | 500+ CTF challenges, certifications, VDP access | ₹1,299/student/year |
| Console | Detect & Respond | AI SOC, EDR, MDM, autonomous threat response | Enterprise pricing |
| Strategy | Comply & Advise | VAPT, VDP, Dark Web Monitoring, Compliance | ₹5L – ₹25L per client/year |
All three platforms are powered by a single AI engine capable of real-time threat scoring in under 100ms with no external API dependency.
My Role
As co-founder and the sole frontend engineer, I was responsible for designing and building the complete user interface across the entire ecosystem.
What I Built
Complete visual language and design system
Every page across Alpha, Console, and Strategy
Consistent and scalable component system
Clear information architecture for complex workflows
Design Challenge: Clarity in Complexity
The most challenging part of this project was designing interfaces for a highly technical domain while making them understandable to a wide range of users — from students to enterprise security teams.
I focused on creating a calm, structured experience with strong visual hierarchy, clear status indicators, and progressive disclosure of information.
Key Highlights
Dark, High-Contrast Interface
A terminal-inspired design system with strict color coding (red, yellow, green) for instant status recognition across all interfaces.
Unified Design Language
A single unified design system was created and used across Alpha, Console, and Strategy to maintain visual and functional consistency.
Current Status
CtrlSec is currently in active development. The marketing website is live, while the core product features and dashboards are still being built. There is still significant work ahead on both the frontend and backend.
What I Learned
"Building CtrlSec taught me that even in the most technical domains, clarity is a design choice — not a luxury.
